Gavin Taylor was the subject matter expert on the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations for St. Modwen.
He worked with the St. Modwen health and safety team to develop and refine processes, procedures and forms to improve compliance with the CDM Regulations for all branches of the business.
Breedon Hope Cement is a manufacturer of cement products based in Hope Valley, Derbyshire.
We helped the team at Hope Cement Works develop a new, streamlined CDM compliance procedure to complement their established processes for managing construction projects within and outside shutdown periods.
The procedure, and supporting documents, were trained to the workforce for implementation on projects. We provided ongoing support to ensure a smooth transition.
We now provide independent advice to Engineers and Managers on specific project health and safety matters and conduct health and safety inspections of construction areas.
We also support departments with the preparation of risk assessments, safe operating procedures, inspections and coaching.
Land Energy is one the UK's leading suppliers of wood pellets and wood briquettes.
Gavin has worked with Land Energy from 2008. He was involved in the safe operation of their first wood pellet manufacturing plant in Bridgend. He then worked with Land Energy to design and construct their flagship production facility in Girvan, Scotland.
Gavin Taylor has been an Associate Auditor and Trainer for the British Safety Council since 2005. Up to 2019 Gavin delivered the BSC Five Star Audit and conducted safety advisories on behalf of BSC across the world.
Gavin develops and delivers bespoke training material for the BSC. He also assisted with the development and review of the BSC qualifications.

Gavin first worked with Vauxhall Motors at Ellesmere Port in 2000 when he played a key role in the practical management of CDM compliance for five years of extensive construction projects. In 2014 Gavin led a team of CDM specialists to help Vauxhall Motors build the production facilities for the new Astra.
In 2022/3 Gavin provided competent advice and support on site to allow VM to fulfil the roles of PD and PC. This included on-site health and safety monitoring, reviewing procedures, coaching and providing competent advice to the health and safety team.

Gavin also delivered the British Safety Council's Five Star Audit for JCB comparing its manufacturing operations with health and safety best practice and providing JCB with recommendations for continuing improvement in health and safety performance.
