Through the British Safety Council Gavin worked with Sky's health and safety team to develop two courses for managers.

Gavin also developed and delivered a two-day workshop in which Sky's own trainers were taught how to deliver the courses to their managers.

Here is some of the feedback from that course:

'As a delegate; I feel that Gavin’s delivery was very engaging, he obviously knows the content inside out and as such I was interested throughout.'

'The way the breaks were implemented and the way the content linked together meant that, even though there was a lot to take in, I never felt like it was too much at once.'

'As a developing trainer I have taken quite a lot away too; Gavin’s effective use of questioning meant that we explored the answers ourselves rather than being told things’

'He also allowed for conversations to run slightly off topic which often resulted in more (and often still relevant) information being shared throughout the group. (this is something I have tried to implement with sessions I have run since – with positive results).'

'Firstly Gavin was probably one of the best trainers I have had the pleasure to have been trained by in a very long time.'

'Gavin’s approach was perfectly balanced with perfect humour (same as mine), he was also very patient with us.'

'The subject matter might have put a lot of people off, but Gavin made it riveting.'

'His time management was to die for.'

The course was very busy with lots of information although, run at a speed that allowed the information to sink in, by a tutor that really understands the procedures, what stands behind these and how to get that information across to all learning needs. I personally got lots out the week, some new information to take on board and some refreshing of knowledge which is always greatly received. It was good to explore how we bring this information back into the business, and deliver to our managers to make it a success that it should be. It was obvious that a lot of time and effort had gone into the preparation and material of this course which worked really well, with everyone leaving saying the same thing.

Would I recommend this course? Yes definitely. To use one of Gavin evaluation techniques I’ll sum up in three words, Motivating, refreshing, informative.

Gavin was easy to understand and kept the groups attention throughout, at no point did I lose concentration or did my mind drift from the subject at hand, his pace pitch and tone were excellent and helped to keep me focussed

He was extremely approachable and nothing was too much trouble.

The course itself has a lot of information but is broken into bite size chunks and the way it is written and presented simplifies the content of the many policies and regulations without “dumbing down”

The way the workbook is laid out is good for different learning styles as it has information for the reflectors to take away, but also has all the tables etc to be completed during the day which keeps the activists involved in doing something. The short breaks and often also help the activists as they get an opportunity to get out of their seats and move around.

The session guide is really easy to follow and lays out expectations on the facilitator and delegates to ensure that nothing is missed
